Genuine antique map “Bolonia et Guines com” by Mercator from the German edition of “
Atlas Minor
” published in Amsterdam in 1651. This charming 367 year old copperplate map of northern France on the English Channel shows excellent detail of lakes, waterways, cities (illustrated with castles), forests (drawn as groups if individual trees) and mountains (drawn as individual mounds). Title and scale appear in a decorative cartouche. North is to the right on this map. German text on verso. Image is in very good condition and measures 5 3/4″x 7 1/8″.
